Are you feeling burned out from trying to use every new educational technology released in the last few years? Does seeing all of those new tools in your Canvas course fill you with a sense of dread? Do you long for those days when teaching with technology felt fun and exciting, but now it just feels overwhelming?
If you said yes to any of the above, then the 2022 Teaching with Technology Summer Institute is for you!
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) invites you to participate in its 2022 Teaching with Technology Summer Institute on the theme of “Practicing Mindfulness in Teaching with Technology”. This year’s Summer Institute will be held on June 27th-30th, from 9 am-Noon (with breaks) and will be presented virtually via Zoom.
During the 4-day institute, we will explore a pedagogical approach to the intentional and mindful integration of technologies into curriculum that supports effective teaching and enhances student learning. You will work with learning technology specialists from CTL and various experts from across campus (including representatives from OIT’s DTL, GTPE, and C21U) as well as peers across disciplines. Together, we will investigate ways of mindfully integrating new technologies into your courses.
What can I expect?
The institute will consist of a mix of small and large-group sessions as well as individual work time. You will engage in activities that will re-ignite your passion for teaching with technology and learn to implement technology in your course in a mindful way that will facilitate active learning, collaborative learning, and effective assessment (visit the summer institute website for more details on what each day will explore).
Is this for me?
No matter whether you are a novice or an expert with educational technologies, or whether you plan to teach face-to-face, online, flipped-classroom, or in some other mode, join us to rethink how you teach with technology and plan for your Fall 2022 course. You’ll learn how to harness the power of technologies and use them in a mindful way to create engaging learning experiences inside and outside of classes. By attending this institute and reflecting on your work, you can even earn a badge issued by the Center for Teaching and Learning!
