You have figured out how to use the basics of Canvas – navigate the interface, post content, communicate with students, create and grade assignments, and so on. Now you are thinking:
How can I take my course beyond the surface?
How can I get the most out of Canvas without having to go through a lot of trial and error?
To help you better address these questions, the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) invites you to participate in its 2019 Teaching with Technology Summer Institute on the theme of “Deep Dive into Teaching with Canvas”. The four-day institute (July 15-18, 2019) will give you an opportunity to go beyond the Canvas basics, and to leverage the full potential of Canvas to drive learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
What can I expect?
The institute will consist of a mix of small-group and large-group sessions, as well as individual work time. You will engage in discussions and hands-on workshop activities, facilitated by the learning technology specialists from CTL, to advance your skills and techniques in teaching with Canvas.
How does it differ from Canvas training?
Please note that this program is uniquely different from, and not a substitute for, the Canvas training offered by the Office of Information Technology. If you intend to learn how to use the tools in Canvas, we recommend you consider attending the Canvas training sessions (see http://canvas.gatech.edu/canvas-training-options for details) prior to attending the institute. The institute is focused on learning tips, tricks, and best practices for using Canvas to create meaningful learning experiences effectively and efficiently.
Is this for me?
No matter whether you are a novice or an expert in using Canvas, please come and join the discussions about rethinking how you teach with technology!
